There are many people at Esna who diligently work behind the scenes in order to ensure our products and services best meet the needs of our customers. In our new “Get to Know the Developers” series, Esna will be shining a spotlight on some of our company’s best and brightest. We couldn’t think of anyone better to kick off our series than our very own Senior Product Manager Bryan Dingwall.
For the last six years, Bryan has been a driving force behind a number of Esna’s greatest innovations—like our new mobile collaboration app, Esna Agenda—and has contributed to ground-breaking concepts that have enabled Esna to excel in the unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) space. We managed to steal a few minutes with Bryan to learn what he loves most about his job and why he thinks Esna Agenda is a true game-changer.
“As Product Manager, I facilitate a number of business and innovation requirements,” he says. “I love being able to work with almost every department—from marketing to product development to design—in order to work deeply within the entire product experience.”
Bryan explained how Esna has continually evolved since its inception over 25 years ago, which has led to the advent of mobile-first Esna Agenda. “We have always been about better enabling enterprise communication and collaboration experiences—specifically, by integrating UC into third-party cloud-based applications. But we really wanted to build a mobile-first integration that was separate from IT groups and specifically designed for the individual user.”
What started out as a conversation with CEO Mohammad Nezarati–about how difficult it can be to dial into a meeting when using multiple devices and the burden of multiple login information—turned into a realistic business idea. Thus the idea of Esna Agenda was born. The product was released three months ago for download within the Google Play Store (two months ago in the Apple App Store) and is experiencing solid success.
“It’s pretty exciting to be venturing into this mobile space,” Bryan says. “We’re trying our absolute best to provide users with the most relevant information front and center via a modern, mobile-friendly design that reflects what they would want and expect.” For example, Esna Agenda comes with an introductory tutorial, which serves as a quick and easy way for new users to learn about and navigate through the app, supporting a true “on-the-go” lifestyle.
“The ease of being able to join a meeting, especially while on the road, is invaluable for today’s business professional. Imagine driving and having to enter a 13 digit-long entry code. With an automatic dialing capability, Esna Agenda saves users a lot of time by avoiding having to manually dial-in to meetings Users will rarely be late for meetings, get the dial-in information wrong, or have to re-enter the information numerous times.”
But that doesn’t mean the process is over. Bryan, as any seasoned product manager, is well aware of the long road he and his team have ahead in continually fine-tuning and perfecting the app so that it can better meet and exceed user expectations.
“We’re planning to add additional capabilities,” he explains. For example, one feature called “Note Builder” will enable users to create meeting notes during a call in real-time. “We’re also looking to add functionality that will enable users to build and assign tasks within the meeting. Users can simply tap on a contact within their contact directory in order to assign a task to or follow up with that individual.”
Bryan urged users to submit feedback and ideas in order to better facilitate their meetings, and communication around meetings, using Esna Agenda. “This is our very first version and so any feedback we receive is invaluable.”
We can’t wait to introduce you to other great members of our team—stay tuned!
