It’s raining, it’s pouring, but your employees aren’t snoring. As a matter of fact, though the weather kept them esna-remote-workers-collaboration-infographicat home, they’re productively working—benefitting your business even if your offices are unreachable due to high winds, loss of power, flooding or any number of other detrimental weather conditions.

Your business might even see greater productivity than normal when climatic changes keep your workers at home. Our most recent infographic on remote workers shows that 65 percent of employees report being more productive when working from home. So, if you’re a  large business (with 2,500 or more employees) but not one of the 77 percent globally already allowing their employees to work remotely, you might want to revise your policy.

Teleworking represents a quickly growing movement over the years. Consider that between 2005 and 2011, the U.S. teleworking movement grew by a monstrous 73 percent, with one in four workers telecommuting at least some of the time, per the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Moving forward, more businesses are likely to rely on teleworking, as the practice helps to reduce real estate and overhead costs, as indicated in the Infographic.

But before your company can introduce a more liberal work-from-home policy, managers need to ensure that remote employees have the tools they need to communicate and collaborate with their business partners and associates. While over half of U.S. workers express a desire to collaborate and network when out of-the office, , a full 37 percent said that working remotely reduces their access to company information and involvement in team activities.

Don’t forget the added perks of a happy workforce either. As informed by the Infographic, 64 percent of employees would actually sacrifice pay to work from home. And happy workers are ones that are more engaged with your company and responsive to customer demands—improving the outlook for reaching your business goals.
